Juntos Podemos: building the CTHCC Foundation together
A lot of us know how our families made it through the hard years.
A tía watched the kids so somebody could take a night class. A neighbor dropped off groceries when the hours got cut. Somebody at church knew a guy who was hiring.
That's how we've always taken care of each other. The CTHCC Foundation is our way of doing it on purpose, for all of Waco, for generations.
Something we're building together
We started the Foundation in January 2026. This is our first public ask.
Here's what we see. A Waco where the woman studying for her GED today is teaching an ESL class 5 years from now. Where the family that got help with rent during a rough winter opens a shop on Franklin Avenue and sponsors next year's job training class.
Help that comes back around. That's the Foundation we want to build with you.
What we're starting with
-Workforce development. Anybody in Waco who's ready to work should be able to get the training to get hired. We'll fund job training, certification courses, and employment help for people who are unemployed or underemployed.
-Education and literacy. ESL classes, GED prep, financial literacy workshops, and skills training for people building a life on their own terms.
-Support for community groups. The small nonprofits and neighborhood groups already doing the work deserve backup. We'll offer technical help, training, and consulting to groups strengthening Waco neighborhoods that are struggling economically.
-Emergency assistance. One bad month shouldn't undo years of hard work. When a family hits a financial crisis, we'll help with rent, utility bills, groceries, and other immediate needs.
-Civic leadership. Our community belongs in the rooms where Waco's decisions get made. Our nonpartisan leadership programs will prepare people to take part in local government and speak up at public meetings.
Your gift, handled with care
The CTHCC Foundation is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit. We're affiliated with the Cen-Tex Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and we have our own Board of Directors and our own finances, kept separate from the Chamber's.
Every dollar donated to the Foundation goes to charitable and educational programs, under the oversight of our independent Board. The Foundation does not fund Chamber membership services, lobbying, or political activity of any kind.
A majority of our voting board members are independent. They don't sit on the Chamber's board, they don't work for the Chamber, and they have no financial stake in Chamber decisions.
Juntos Podemos
Together, we can. Our parents and grandparents lived by those words long before anybody printed them on a banner.
Years from now, when people tell the story of how the CTHCC Foundation started, it'll start with the neighbors who gave first. **Be one of them.**
Give what fits your budget, whether that's $20 or $2,000. Your donation is tax-deductible. Starting with the 2026 tax year, cash gifts to qualified public charities like the CTHCC Foundation may be deductible even if you don't itemize: up to $1,000 if you file single, or $2,000 for married couples filing jointly. Check with your tax advisor for the details on your situation.
